Apple's Hardware Reliability Engineering team is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer to work with iOS hardware engineering teams. This role is crucial in ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of Apple's products throughout their lifecycle. The position involves partnering with multiple engineering teams from concept to field returns, exploring new technologies, and understanding customer usage patterns.

As a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing creative reliability tests on new hardware programs, quantifying reliability risks, and supporting failure analysis. You'll work directly with cross-functional teams and present findings to executive leadership to guide product development decisions.

The ideal candidate brings 3-5+ years of reliability engineering experience, with a strong background in hardware engineering.   • Developing new reliability tests procedures and specifications
  • Preparing concise and detailed test plans and analyzing test reports
  • Statistically analyzing data to provide design risk assessments
  • Presenting tests, test results, and risk assessments to teams
  • Researching new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms
  • Guiding design and interacting with diverse groups to improve product reliability
  • Investigating failures during reliability testing to determine root cause and drive mitigations

Requirements For Hardware Reliability Engineer – Ecosystem Accessories

  • Bachelor's Degree in hardware focused engineering or technical field (ME, MSE, ChemE, EE, physics, etc)
  • 3-5+ years in reliability or relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with mechanical stress tests, shock/drop/vibration testing, environmental testing
  • Application of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Familiar with Failure Analysis techniques
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in iWork and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel internationally without restrictions
