Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Apple is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their Satellite Communications Group SRE team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that enables satellite connectivity for iPhone users when they're off the grid. The position involves building and maintaining large-scale, highly resilient systems that power emergency satellite communications services.

As part of the Satellite Connectivity Group, you'll work on the network that enables Emergency SOS via satellite, a critical service that has helped countless users access emergency assistance when traditional communication methods are unavailable. This role combines systems engineering with software development, focusing on building rather than just operating infrastructure.

The position requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure-as-code. You'll be responsible for designing architecture, implementing monitoring systems, and ensuring high availability of customer-facing services. The role offers the rare opportunity to build and control entire end-to-end infrastructure from the ground up, working within a team that embraces a no-ops culture.

Key responsibilities include developing distributed systems, managing cloud infrastructure, implementing zero-downtime deployments, and maintaining high-availability services.
