Job Description

Apple is seeking a System Design & Test Engineer to join their Hardware team in Cupertino. This role combines hardware engineering expertise with system-level testing to ensure Apple's products meet their high-quality standards. The position offers an opportunity to work on groundbreaking products while collaborating with multiple teams across Apple.

As a System Design & Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing hardware testing solutions for new Apple products from prototype to mass production. You'll work closely with design, firmware, software, and operations teams to validate board level system functionality and electrical performance. The role requires both technical expertise in hardware design and strong project management skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering with experience in analog, digital, and power electronics. You'll be crafting custom hardware testing fixtures, developing testing software, and working with contract manufacturers to ensure testing processes are properly implemented. This position offers the chance to directly impact the quality and performance of Apple products that millions of customers use daily.

Responsibilities For System Design & Test Engineer

  • Own and lead system architecture, hardware design, and implementation of product testing
  • Develop custom electrical instruments, algorithms, and software tools
  • Work with system design and diagnostics teams for product development
  • Be technical expert for system testing and processes
  • Liaison between organization and Contract Manufacturers
  • Documentation of tests and developing product test plans
  • Implement test process control and parametric data collection

Requirements For System Design & Test Engineer

  • B.S. or M.S. EE with 3+ years of experience
  • Good understanding of analog, digital, and power electronics hardware architectures
  • Experience in schematic & PCB layout design using Allegro or similar CAD tool
  • Ability to design and debug sophisticated electrical schematics and PCB layouts
