As a System Product Design Engineer at Apple, you'll be part of the Vision Product Group, developing high-performance immersive devices. Your role will involve direct responsibility for the mechanical design of parts, assemblies, and modules within Apple Vision products. You'll own the analysis, assembly, and reliability of these parts, spanning the entire product design cycle from concept development to collaboration with vendors. The role requires frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams like Industrial Design, Project Management, Manufacturing, EE, Display, Camera, Antenna, Battery, Softgoods, Human Engineering, Human Factors, Safety, and more. You'll work on translating Apple's visionary ideas into physical form, combining refined industrial design with innovative technologies to create the best-in-class hardware experience for Apple customers. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant influence throughout a product's development process, from conceptual stages to tangible realization.
Responsibilities For System Product Design Engineer
- Mechanical design of parts, assemblies, and modules within Apple Vision products
- Owning the analysis, assembly, and reliability of parts
- Spanning the product design cycle from concept development to collaboration with vendors
- Frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration with various teams
- Translating Apple's visionary ideas into physical form
- Combining refined industrial design with innovative technologies
- Creating best-in-class hardware experiences for Apple customers
Requirements For System Product Design Engineer
- 1-2+ years of hands-on, consumer electronics product design experience
- Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills
- Understanding of common engineering materials & manufacturing processes
- Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (any modeling package, NX preferred)
- Basic GD&T knowledge and experience creating and releasing 2D drawings
- Experience performing tolerance analyses, interpretation of FEA, statistical analysis
- Practical experience working with external vendors (DFM, FAI/CPK)
- Consumer electronics knowledge across multiple disciplines
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Creative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation
- Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
- Hands-on shop experience
- BSME required, MS or equivalent experience preferred
