Data Engineer

Apron is revolutionizing business payments, backed by Index Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners. They're seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of their data platform. The role involves working with various teams including Payments, Cards, and Invoice Capture, while supporting AI technologies like document recognition and invoice detection.

The company has already established a foundation using dbt and Metabase, but is now ready to scale its data infrastructure to handle more complex use cases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building a warehouse setup that can grow with the company, consolidating company-wide data, and implementing tools for effective data utilization.

This is a hands-on IC role where you'll own the platform's development and support, working closely with analysts, engineers, and product teams. You'll be responsible for making the platform reliable, scalable, and secure while ensuring it meets the company's growth needs. The role requires expertise in SQL, Python, and modern data warehousing solutions, along with experience in cloud platforms (GCP) and containerization.
