Description For Research Engineer

Aquatic Capital Management, a newly launched quantitative trading and investment company, is seeking a Research Engineer to join their team. Founded by Jon Graham, former Partner and Senior Managing Director at Citadel, Aquatic aims to build a world-class quantitative trading company with a collaborative team of highly capable researchers and engineers.

As a Research Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with senior researchers and technologists to investigate novel research ideas, evaluate them with large-scale experiments, and develop scientific libraries.
  • Build tools and engines that bring platforms and models to live trading.
  • Independently originate, test, develop, and own research projects and processes over time.
  • For London-based candidates: Provide vital engineering support during Asian market trading hours and oversee knowledge transition for the growing Asian team.

Technical requirements include expertise in Python and C++, comfort with large parallel computational problems, strong numeracy skills, and experience in quantitative trading environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong bias for action, be driven by accountability and internal urgency, and thrive in an ambitious environment with driven colleagues.

Aquatic offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary between $150,000 and $300,000, plus a potentially significant discretionary bonus. Benefits include fully paid medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents, a competitive 401k plan, employer-paid life & disability insurance, wellness programs, and generous PTO.

Join Aquatic to shape the culture of a new quantitative investment manager, built on collaboration, meritocracy, ambition, and calm determination. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building a world-class operation from the ground up.
