Data Engineer
Job Description
Ardanis is seeking a Data Engineer to support their client in the UK hospitality sector. The role focuses on building and refactoring a data warehouse, streamlining reporting, and improving insights through Power BI. The position requires initial on-site presence in the UK for the first few weeks, followed by hybrid or remote work options. The successful candidate will work with a small, non-technical internal team, designing scalable data warehouse solutions, developing ETL/ELT pipelines, and enhancing Power BI dashboards. Key responsibilities include training the internal team and implementing data governance best practices. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in data engineering, SQL, and Power BI, with excellent communication skills to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders. Experience in hospitality industry data and cloud platforms is a plus. Responsibilities For Data Engineer
- Design, build, and refactor a scalable data warehouse solution
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data integration and reliability
- Support the enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reports
- Train and upskill a small internal team to ensure knowledge transfer
- Introduce best practices in data governance, documentation, and reporting
Requirements For Data Engineer
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of data warehouse design, SQL, and ETL/ELT processes
- Hands-on experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report optimization)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Availability to work on-site in the UK for the first weeks of the project
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry or with transactional/operational data (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards (Nice to Have)
