Description For Electrical Engineering Intern - Fall

Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab. They're creating a team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen, covering mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process engineering. The company believes in owning the stack from atoms to architecture and is set up with various equipment including 3D printers, microscopes, e-beam writers, and general fabrication equipment.

For the Electrical Engineering Intern - Fall position, you'll work on a cross-functional engineering team building semiconductor fabrication equipment. This role offers exposure to interesting engineering problems and allows interns to take on significant ownership and mission-critical work. Projects are highly interdisciplinary, spanning domains such as high voltage, high frequency, analog/mixed signal, and RF.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Circuit design, component selection, and board design
  • Designing, prototyping, and building electronics for semiconductor fabrication equipment
  • Collaborating with mechanical and embedded systems teams to determine requirements

Required qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in engineering
  • Quick learner with ability to troubleshoot technical problems
  • Hands-on prototyping experience and ability to move through design cycles quickly
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering (KiCad/Altium, microcontrollers, embedded systems, digital circuits, etc.)

Desired qualifications:

  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing (thin film deposition & etching, photolithography, etc.)
  • Experience with Python scripting and data visualization
