Description For Software Engineer, Full Stack, Developer Productivity

Benchling is revolutionizing the biotechnology industry through their R&D Cloud platform, which enables innovative biotech companies to develop breakthrough products more efficiently. As a Full Stack Software Engineer in the Developer Productivity team, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the developer experience, particularly in frontend development.

The position involves creating and maintaining tools and frameworks that empower Benchling's engineering teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently. You'll be working on one of the largest React applications, building solutions that streamline development workflows and improve productivity. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and product-minded thinking, as you'll be responsible for features from initial design through to large-scale deployment.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of software engineering experience, with strong capabilities in web frameworks (particularly Node.js or Python) and a proven track record of building efficient developer tools. You'll need to demonstrate problem-solving abilities, ownership mentality, and a genuine interest in learning about life sciences, though prior knowledge isn't required.

Working in a hybrid model (3 days per week on-site in San Francisco), you'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. The role offers competitive compensation ($141,000 - $190,000) and comprehensive benefits, including health coverage, 401(k) matching, parental leave, and professional development opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level engineer who wants to make a significant impact on developer productivity while contributing to Benchling's mission of accelerating life sciences research and development. You'll be part of a team that's not just building software, but helping to solve humanity's most pressing problems through better biotechnology tools.
