Blue Origin, founded with the vision of enabling millions to live and work in space for Earth's benefit, is seeking a Senior Avionics Software Engineer for their New Shepard program. This reusable suborbital rocket system is designed to take astronauts and research payloads beyond the Kármán line. As part of a small, passionate team, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and improving New Shepard's avionics software stack. This hands-on role focuses on safety-critical system development, requiring expertise in embedded systems, real-time software, and rigorous engineering processes. Responsibilities For Senior Avionics Software Engineer - New Shepard

  • Participate in software design, development, verification, validation, and integration efforts
  • Participate in software & systems requirements management
  • Participate in trade studies supporting upgrades to compute systems
  • Continuously improve product, internal tools, and processes
  • Facilitate collaboration between multidisciplinary team of engineers
  • Define and commit to schedules and budgets
  • Provide engineering support for Mission Operations team
  • Mentor & train incoming software engineers

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
