Description For Sensor Software Engineer

CAE USA, a leading provider of defense and security solutions, is seeking a Sensor Software Engineer to join their team in Tampa. This role focuses on designing and developing real-time aerospace and aircraft systems simulations for military training devices, with a specific emphasis on Targeting Pods and Electronic Warfare solutions.

The position offers an opportunity to work on meaningful projects that directly support U.S. Armed Forces and international partners. As a Sensor Software Engineer, you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, creating and maintaining sophisticated simulation models for military training applications. The role requires a blend of software engineering expertise and domain knowledge in aerospace systems.

The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience, strong C++ programming skills, and experience with Linux development environments. A background in Object-Oriented Programming and familiarity with military systems, particularly Targeting Pods and Electronic Warfare, would be highly valuable. The position requires a DoD Secret Clearance and U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work.

Responsibilities For Sensor Software Engineer

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models
  • Apply software engineering principles to complete assigned tasks within budget and schedule
  • Work with senior engineers to understand tasking and complete work
  • Maintain, upgrade, and improve existing Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models
  • Analyze legacy Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models
  • Contribute to development and deployment of training systems
  • Interface with platform simulation applications
  • Perform product-level integration and troubleshooting

Requirements For Sensor Software Engineer

Linux
  • DoD Secret Clearance required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming techniques and design patterns
  • Experience with developing software for Linux
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship required
