DevOps Engineer
Job Description
Cheerz is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their technical team of 25 members in Paris, France, with a hybrid work arrangement. The role sits within their agile squad structure, reporting to the Staff Engineer back-end, where you'll be responsible for infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring.
The technical team at Cheerz develops, tests, and deploys features daily across their apps and website, serving hundreds of thousands of users throughout Europe. Their platform is the first step in creating unique, personalized, and lasting memories for their customers.
As a DevOps Engineer, you'll work closely with the backend platform and your squad, focusing on delivering the best digital experience for customers from a technical perspective. The role requires a pragmatic approach to prioritizing both business-driven squad tasks and technical platform work.
The technology stack is comprehensive and modern, including:
- Backend: PostgreSQL, Redis, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq
- Infrastructure: Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Grafana, Terraform
- Hosting: Google Cloud, AWS, Online
- Monitoring & Tools: CircleCI, Datadog, PagerDuty, Cloudflare/Fastly, Github Actions
- Client-side: React, Kotlin, Swift
Key challenges include scalability, security, innovation, and internationalization. The team meets monthly for high-impact platform gatherings, squad meetings, meetups, and team building activities.
The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of DevOps or SysAdmin experience, with strong expertise in Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and modern DevOps tools. You should be passionate about automation, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities For DevOps Engineer
- Optimize and evolve infrastructure to support growth and ensure high availability (fault-tolerance, redundancy, immutability)
- Automate provisioning, deployment, and monitoring (Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Collaborate with Backend teams to streamline delivery and optimize productivity (CI/CD, pipelines, integration tools)
- Manage security and infrastructure updates (OS, DB, cloud security, incident management)
- Build technical infrastructure vision: propose improvements, share monitoring, participate in architecture decisions
- Participate in team rituals and occasionally contribute to Backend development
Requirements For DevOps Engineer
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps or SysAdmin
- Mastery of Kubernetes clusters in the cloud, and knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Docker, GCP
- Strong understanding of backend constraints and software architecture
- Experience with CI/CD systems (CircleCI, Jenkins, Github Actions)
- Automation culture, rigor, and proactivity
- Team collaboration and communication skills
- Experience with NewRelic, Cloudflare, DNS/certificate management (preferred)
- CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification (preferred)
- Experience in high-traffic environments (e-commerce, video, banking) (preferred)
