Description For Lead Engineer Power Electronics Design

Clarios, a global leader in advanced battery technologies, is seeking a Lead Engineer Power Electronics Design to join their Advanced Battery Core Electronics Team in Hannover, Germany. This crucial role involves designing and developing power electronic circuits and components for Battery Management Systems (BMS) in next-generation lithium-ion batteries.

The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge BMS technology and contribute to developing "best-in-class" electronic battery controls. The role requires expertise in power electronics design, from prototype to production, with responsibilities spanning circuit design, analysis, testing, and validation.

As a Lead Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing highly efficient architectures meeting performance, safety, and reliability requirements. Key tasks include working with DCDC electrical architecture, performing circuit analysis, component selection, and ensuring thermal and EMC management compliance. The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including software, mechanical, system, and production engineers.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in power electronics design, with a strong educational background in Electrical Engineering. Proficiency in Altium Designer and excellent communication skills are essential. Responsibilities For Lead Engineer Power Electronics Design

  • Perform power circuit and component design
  • Develop new highly efficient architectures/technologies for performance, safety, and reliability
  • Create schematic and PCB design in Altium Designer
  • Develop buck/boost bi-directional DCDC electrical architecture
  • Perform circuit analysis/simulation and power analysis
  • Component selection for DCDC controllers and related components
  • Design for thermal and EMC management
  • Prepare and review detailed documentation
  • Execute high current/power testing and characterization
  • Develop and execute engineering verification and validation
  • Support integration of power electronics into battery systems

Requirements For Lead Engineer Power Electronics Design

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in power electronics
  • 5+ years of professional experience in circuit level power electronics design
  • Proficient with Altium Designer or similar simulation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with isolated and non-isolated circuit topologies
  • Experience with soft-switching and resonant topologies
  • Experience in taking power electronics from concept to production
