As an ML Engineer Intern, you'll be at the forefront of developing intelligent robotic systems that make real-world impact. The role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology combining robotics, AI, and real-world deployment.
You'll be working on crucial aspects of the autonomous delivery system, including improving perception systems for safe sidewalk navigation and developing learning-based algorithms for enhanced efficiency. This isn't just theoretical work - you'll be contributing to systems that are actively deployed and serving businesses and customers.
The position offers mentorship from world-class AI and robotics experts in a dynamic startup environment. You'll gain hands-on experience in robot learning, computer vision, motion planning, and large-scale ML systems. The internship requires a minimum commitment of either six months part-time (two days per week) or three months full-time, with the potential to convert to a full-time position.
Working from the company's headquarters near Venice Beach, you'll be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of autonomous delivery technology. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $300-$400 per day for part-time work, with full-time compensation to be determined. This opportunity is ideal for undergrad/MS students in the LA area who are passionate about applying AI and robotics to solve real-world challenges.
The position combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, offering exposure to various aspects of autonomous systems, from data preparation and model training to real-world deployment on physical robots. You'll be working with technologies like PyTorch, C++, ROS, and GPU training, while gaining valuable experience in computer vision, 3D vision, and object detection.
Responsibilities For ML Engineer Internship
- Preparing video data and meta-data for ML model training
- Training, fine-tuning, and improving ML models
- Testing and deploying the trained ML models on the real COCO robot
Requirements For ML Engineer Internship
- Solid experience in deep learning and computer vision (3D vision, cameras, object detection, image classification, etc)
- Proficiency in PyTorch, C++, and GPU training, and knowledge in ROS system
- Experience in mobile robots, autonomous driving, embodied robotic system like Nvidia Jetson (Preferred)
- Experience in programming competitions, hackathon, and code contributions to open-source projects (Preferred)
- Experience in simulation and reinforcement learning (Preferred)
- Minimum six months commitment if part-time or three months if full-time
- Must live in LA area
- Must be able to come to the HQ office in-person at least ONE DAY per week
