Staff Software Engineer, Backend - Risk Platform

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Risk Platform team, focusing on building scalable, intelligent, and resilient systems to protect customer assets and fight fraud. The Platform Product Group engineers are responsible for building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform focusing on speed, efficiency, and quality. The Risk Platform team specifically works on proactive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation systems.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be architecting and developing distributed systems, providing technical leadership, managing project priorities, and mentoring team members. You'll work on foundational infrastructure components used across engineering teams, including dynamic configuration, secrets storage, and container orchestration.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of architecting solutions to complex problems. Experience with financial systems, fraud prevention, or rapid company growth is highly valued. Technical expertise in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres is beneficial.
