Founding Engineer

CommodityAI is revolutionizing the $25 trillion global commodity trading industry with modern software solutions. Founded by a former sugar trader and supported by Y Combinator and leading investors, the company has achieved $600K in revenue with a lean two-person engineering team. They streamline document validation, shipment coordination, and risk management, replacing outdated emails and spreadsheets with scalable, intelligent AI-driven tools. Operating from San Francisco, the team is dedicated to building an AI-native platform for commodity traders and operators.

As the Founding Engineer, you'll be the first engineering hire outside the founding team, deeply involved in shaping both the product and the company's direction. You will work on end-to-end, full-stack features, collaborating closely with the CEO and CTO to structure ambiguous problems and deliver customer-focused solutions. This role offers significant ownership over the codebase and infrastructure, the chance to rapidly prototype and ship products, and hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI technologies.

The compensation ranges from $200K to $250K, along with equity of 0.5%-1.5%. The company also offers visa sponsorship. This is an on-site position in San Francisco, requiring at least 4 days/week in the office. Expect a high-intensity schedule of approximately 60 hours per week.
