This role combines DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering responsibilities, focusing on maintaining and optimizing cloud infrastructure for an Australian customer loyalty program. The position requires deep AWS expertise, strong automation skills, and experience with monitoring tools like Datadog and CloudWatch.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in cloud operations or DevOps, with expertise in Python or TypeScript programming. They will be responsible for managing critical cloud infrastructure, implementing automation solutions, and ensuring system reliability. The role offers a blend of technical leadership, including mentoring junior engineers, and hands-on operational work.

Responsibilities For Cloud Operations & Reliability Engineer
- Own and operate cloud infrastructure (EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, etc.)
- Proactively monitor systems using Datadog and CloudWatch
- Automate deployments and infrastructure using AWS CDK, Terraform, and CloudFormation
- Maintain centralised logging and observability
- Drive security compliance and manage access controls
- Handle service requests and documentation
- Participate in on-call roster for Cloud Operations team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Participate in project based work and work off the Cloud team backlog
Requirements For Cloud Operations & Reliability Engineer
- Deep knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native design patterns
- Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure automation
- Excellent skills in at least one scripting language (Python/TypeScript)
- Extensive experience with Datadog, CloudWatch, and centralized logging platforms
- Deep understanding of IAM, KMS, WAF, and audit logging
- 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, DevOps, or site reliability engineering
- Excellent understanding of the SDLC
- Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
- Strong understanding of Agile practices and incident management workflows
