The position combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in backend technologies like Kotlin, Python, and various cloud services. Working in Irvine, CA with a hybrid schedule, you'll lead the design and implementation of critical features while mentoring junior engineers. The role offers competitive compensation ($144,000-$232,000) and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, Matterport Platform
- Lead the design, implementation and deployment of new features and services
- Build features and services using Kotlin, Python and front-end technologies
- Build APIs, backend services and integrations that support our products
- Work with relational and non-relational data stores
- Work with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers and QA
- Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
- Be an advocate for good engineering practices
- Contribute to a learning culture
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential
Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Matterport Platform
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of development experience, designing and delivering features and services in a cloud environment
- Experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages, such as Java and/or Server-side Kotlin
- Experience with microservices such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with messaging frameworks, such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in all areas of platform development
- A solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well-documented code
- Ability to work well in an agile environment
- Track record of commitment to prior employers
