Job Description

Dematic, a global leader in automation and robotics, is seeking a Controls System Support Engineer for their Moorebank, Sydney location. This role combines software engineering with industrial automation, focusing on PLC programming and SCADA systems implementation. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technology in material handling and logistics.

The role involves working in a 12-hour rostered shift pattern (4-5-5 rotation) at a leading client site, where you'll be responsible for deploying and supporting electrical control systems, designing and implementing PLC software, and providing technical support to maintenance teams. You'll work with advanced automation hardware and contribute to system diagnostics, analysis, and customer reporting.

Responsibilities For Controls System Support Engineer

  • Provide second level technical support to maintenance team
  • Prepare/assist with budget costing and quoting
  • Complete regular system diagnostics and analysis procedures
  • Prepare PLC programs and configure SCADA and PLC-related equipment
  • Test and commission systems on site
  • Prepare test plans and operator & technical manuals
  • Train client personnel and provide customer support

Requirements For Controls System Support Engineer

  • Degree in engineering or scientific discipline or electrical trade with tertiary qualifications
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens S7 preferred)
  • Experience with SCADA applications (ICONICS, CITEC, WINCC)
  • Knowledge of materials handling system controls
  • Ability to work without supervision and guide teams/projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Electrical trades licence qualification (highly regarded)
