Job Description

DEPT®/AI is a leading digital agency focused on leveraging Data & AI to enhance their service offerings. The Lead Data Engineer position is a senior technical leadership role within their EMEA Data craft team, responsible for building and leading data engineering capabilities across Europe. The role involves working with prestigious clients like Footlocker, Nikon, Rituals, and Philips to deliver complex data solutions.

The position requires a combination of deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills, as you'll be responsible for shaping and executing data engineering strategy, delivering technical excellence, and building a high-performing team. You'll work closely with clients to translate business challenges into robust data engineering solutions while staying at the cutting edge of industry standards.

Responsibilities For Lead Data Engineer

  • Lead the strategic development of data engineering proposition and capabilities
  • Set technical standards and best practices for data engineering across EMEA
  • Guide and mentor data engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation
  • Design and implement scalable, reliable data architectures and pipelines
  • Serve as technical authority on client engagements
  • Build and grow a high-performing data engineering team

Requirements For Lead Data Engineer

Python
  • Extensive experience in data engineering with proven track record
  • Strong technical leadership experience
  • Deep expertise in designing data architectures, pipelines, and ETL processes
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data orchestration tools
  • Experience with modern data warehouse technologies
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and governance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strategic thinking ability
  • Experience in agency or consulting environment preferred
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
