Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to develop client player solutions for Hulu and Disney+ streaming services. This role focuses on delivering excellent streaming experiences across multiple platforms including gaming consoles and set-top boxes. The position involves leading the design and implementation of cross-platform players, requiring expertise in JavaScript, C/C++ or Rust, with a focus on video player and cross-platform development.

The role is part of the Media Engineering team, which builds software and systems for media content preparation and metadata management for the Disney Streaming platform. The team handles everything from content ingest through publishing, ensuring optimal playback experiences for viewers. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in media streaming, contributing to products that reach millions of users globally.

As a lead engineer, you'll own large features, drive technical direction, and mentor other engineers. You'll work closely with application layer and backend video services teams to deliver features. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to solve complex problems in video streaming technology.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $145,000 to $213,900 depending on location and experience, plus bonus potential and comprehensive benefits.
