Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their global organization of engineers and technologists. This role is crucial in building and advancing the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally. The position offers an opportunity to work on high-impact projects that serve millions of users through platforms like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC.

The role involves leading architecture discussions, mentoring team members, and building scalable backend systems. You'll be working in Product Engineering, responsible for engineering Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes work on product engineering, media engineering, personalization, commerce, and identity systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with backend architectures, particularly in JVM services, and strong knowledge of functional programming patterns. You'll be working with modern technologies including Scala, Kafka, cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCloud), and various storage solutions.
