Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Ad Platforms team in Seattle. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of Disney's media technology landscape while working on mission-critical advertising solutions.

The position sits within the OMS Engineering team, focusing on creating and scaling innovative global advertising solutions. As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be instrumental in guiding the technical direction of the OMS system and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of a diverse user base.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and cloud technologies. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies including microservices architecture, Kafka, Redis, and Kubernetes while building solutions that impact millions of users across Disney's media portfolio including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC.

Responsibilities For Lead Software Engineer

  • Full lifecycle of software development (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing, maintenance, and support)
  • Lead the design, development and deployment of microservices including inter-service communication and data consistency
  • Lead the design and development of high-quality solutions using Spring Boot
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to a team of software engineers
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders
  • Champion best practices for Software development
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
  • Document technical decisions and maintain documentation

Requirements For Lead Software Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or another technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in web application development
  • Strong understanding of Microservice Architecture

  • Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, and Redis
