Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Ad Serving Engineering organization. This role is crucial in building and maintaining their high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform.

The platform handles qualification, delivery, and tracking of Digital Advertising campaigns across all Disney online properties, including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be working with a tech stack that includes Java, Spring, Kubernetes, AWS, and Terraform, focusing on services that handle high-throughput ad requests.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring deep expertise in Java and microservices architecture. You'll be responsible for designing scalable solutions, mentoring team members, and ensuring system reliability and performance. The position offers the opportunity to work on systems that serve millions of users across Disney's premier streaming platforms.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, particularly in Java and cloud technologies, along with excellent communication abilities and leadership experience. You'll be working in a hybrid environment (4 days/week on-site) in either Los Angeles or San Francisco, with competitive compensation ranging from $152,200 to $223,600 depending on location and experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers looking to make an impact at scale, working with cutting-edge technologies in the streaming and ad-tech space. You'll be part of Disney's broader technology organization, which is central to the company's future in digital media and entertainment.

The role offers the chance to work on challenging technical problems while contributing to Disney's industry-leading ad technology products. You'll be part of a team driving advertising performance and innovation across Disney's sports, news, and entertainment content platforms.

Benefits include comprehensive medical coverage, 401k, and the opportunity to work with some of the most recognized entertainment brands globally. The position requires participation in on-call rotations and demands a strong focus on system reliability and performance optimization.
