The Senior Ride Project Engineer leads a Ride Engineering team responsible for delivering ride systems on time and on budget. This role involves managing every aspect of ride system design & development from concept through testing and handover for innovative ride platforms with unique requirements for extreme duty cycles, high reliability, and inherent life safety. The position requires collaboration with diverse teams including both technical and creative members, and comfort working in environments where scope and requirements change frequently.

As part of the Ride Engineering team, you'll be responsible for moving people through stories in magical ways that bring experiences to life. The role involves bringing optimism and solutions to design challenges that often seem impossible, while partnering with diverse creative talent to define and build one-of-a-kind experiences that bring fun and joy to millions of people worldwide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading concept and system design for innovative ride platforms
  • Collaborating with Creative, Operations, Maintenance, Show, and Facility teams
  • Managing business interests including strategies, cost estimates, and resource plans
  • Ensuring comprehensive engineering results and system deliverables
  • Maintaining compliance with Disney, industry, and local safety standards
  • Leading technical and safety design reviews
  • Overseeing vendor design, fabrication, commissioning, and installation/testing

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional engineering experience, demonstrated project management skills, and hands-on experience with equipment mockups, prototypes, fabrication, and testing. A background in ride systems or amusement industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities For Senior Ride Project Engineer

  • Lead concept and system design for innovative ride platforms
  • Collaborate with Creative, Operations, Maintenance, Show, and Facility teams
  • Define scope, direct teams, and balance stakeholder needs
  • Execute and improve Ride Engineering Standards of Practice
  • Manage business interests: strategies, cost estimates, resource plans
  • Ensure comprehensive engineering results and system deliverables
  • Lead technical and safety design reviews
  • Oversee vendor design, fabrication, commissioning, and installation/testing
  • Validate installations and conduct field testing
  • Serve as Responsible Individual for vendor and consultant contracts

Requirements For Senior Ride Project Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Software)
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience managing projects with budgets over $10 million
  • Experience leading technical teams through design and delivery
  • Project management and vendor management skills
  • Hands-on experience with equipment mockups, prototypes, and testing
  • Proficiency in life safety design/requirements
  • Technical certification: EIT or PE preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and quality control processes
  • Experience with ride systems or amusement industry preferred
