Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of their Generative AI platform within their Ad Technology division. This role presents a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and enterprise-scale advertising systems.

The position involves building reusable AI capabilities and intelligent agents that will streamline critical operational workflows across Disney's ad delivery ecosystem. The ideal candidate will work on developing platform services including prompt routing, vector search, auditing systems, and secure gateway abstractions, while also creating production-ready agents using frameworks like LangGraph and LangChain.

As part of Disney's technology team, you'll be working in an environment where technology meets creativity, helping to build world-class products that enhance storytelling and drive innovation. The role offers exposure to Disney's impressive portfolio of media brands including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC, with the opportunity to impact millions of users globally.

Working in the Ad Platforms team, you'll be responsible for developing Disney's industry-leading ad technology and products, driving advertising performance and innovation across all media platforms. The role requires strong technical expertise in Python, LLM frameworks, and cloud-native technologies, combined with the ability to collaborate across teams and implement enterprise-scale solutions.

The position is based in either Glendale or San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work arrangement. You'll be joining a collaborative team at the forefront of GenAI enablement, helping to shape how modern AI tools are applied to real operational challenges in one of the most advanced ad tech environments.

Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer

  • Design and build reusable GenAI platform components
  • Develop multi-turn LLM agents using LangGraph and LangChain
  • Build robust APIs, SDKs, and accelerator components
  • Standardize approaches to context management and tool calling
  • Ensure platform components meet security standards
  • Partner with infrastructure, data, security, and product teams
  • Build prompt orchestration layers
  • Implement secure gateway abstraction
  • Develop embedding and retrieval infrastructure
  • Set up audit, logging, and trace analysis

Requirements For Senior Software Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience
  • Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Anthropic)
  • Proficient in Python
  • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks
  • Knowledge of observability practices for LLM systems
  • Experience with LLM evaluation and testing frameworks
  • Understanding of cloud-native design patterns
  • Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate)
  • Experience building modular GenAI components
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
