Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their global team of innovators and builders. This role sits within the Product Engineering team, responsible for Disney's digital and streaming products and platforms. The position focuses on developing and maintaining tools for quality control in media workflows, particularly in video streaming and playback systems.

The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of media technology and software engineering, leading the development of native playback clients across iOS, Android, and Roku platforms. They'll be responsible for implementing new features, ensuring high-quality streaming experiences, and mentoring other engineers in media playback best practices.

Responsibilities For Senior, Software Engineer

  • Implement new developmental features on purposely built player to support A/V QC ecosystem
  • Lead design, architecture, and development of native playback clients (iOS, Android, Roku)
  • Drive technical execution and system integration across device teams
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and QC operations teams
  • Lead debugging and resolution of complex media playback issues
  • Champion CI/CD processes and maintain testing infrastructure
  • Mentor engineers across web and native teams
  • Provide on-call rotational support

Requirements For Senior, Software Engineer

  • 4+ years of experience building production-grade playback systems
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Advanced level in English
  • Deep knowledge of media streaming formats (HLS, CMAF, MPEG-DASH)
  • Experience with Swift, AVFoundation, FairPlay, Kotlin/Java, ExoPlayer
  • Extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and git source control
  • Experience with Unity or RealityKit
  • Understanding of async programming models
  • Experience with build and deployment technologies
  • Experience with messaging technologies
