Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Activation team to build and maintain data sharing platforms. This role is crucial in processing data at scale and requires expertise in building scalable, fault-tolerant data products. The position involves working with cutting-edge technologies including AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark, using languages like Scala, Python, SQL, and Java.

The role sits within the Commerce, Data & Identity division, which provides core product management functions crucial to Disney's media businesses. This includes powering digital commerce, identity, growth initiatives, and managing data engineering and science across Disney Entertainment & ESPN.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be part of a team building the technological backbone for Disney's global media business. You'll work on projects that directly impact millions of users across major platforms like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, and ABC News. The position offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking products and solve complex technical problems that shape industry norms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data engineering, with the ability to work on both real-time and batch processing systems. Requirements For Senior Software Engineer - Activation

  • Minimum of 5 years of related software development experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Python, Scala, or Java
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Spark
  • Strong experience with complex SQL development
  • Familiar with Docker and containerization technologies
  • Familiar with Airflow or equivalent schedulers
  • Strong software design principles
  • Experience mentoring and leading junior engineers
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or comparable field
