Software Engineer - Activation

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Activation team, focusing on building and maintaining Activation Data products that serve as the data sharing platform. This role combines big data engineering with backend development to process data at scale and unlock capabilities across software and data disciplines.

The position involves working with cutting-edge technologies including AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark, utilizing languages such as Scala, Python, SQL, and Java. You'll be responsible for building scalable, fault-tolerant data products ensuring reliable delivery of both real-time and batch data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build components of large-scale data platform for real-time and batch processing
• Own features of big data applications to fit evolving business needs
• Participate in building next generation service platform on cloud-based infrastructure
• Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
• Build automated tests to ensure application reliability
• Participate in code reviews

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of software development experience
• Strong experience with Python, Scala, or Java
• Familiarity with Spark and complex SQL development
• Understanding of source control systems and CI/CD concepts
• Knowledge of AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure
