Job Description

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization at the heart of Disney's media business. The Hulu Audience Integration team focuses on data and supporting services, maintaining the Nova system - the backbone of Hulu lifecycle marketing activities.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll work on the ACP project, focusing on subscription data model unification and migration. You'll design and implement new data pipelines in an on-prem environment while ensuring backward compatibility and zero downtime. The role involves working with both batch and real-time data processing.

Key Projects:

  • Nova system maintenance and enhancement
  • ACP (subscription data model unification)
  • Nova modernization project including refactoring legacy data pipelines
  • Integration with various data sources and downstream channels

Technical Environment:

  • Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark)
  • Modern cloud-based data technologies (Redshift, Snowflake)
  • Java Spring Boot services
  • Both batch and real-time data processing

Responsibilities For Sr Data Engineer - Hulu Audience Integration

  • Contribute to the Nova system development and optimization
  • Add new features and continuously optimize current assets
  • Contributing to ACP and Nova modernization project
  • Promote and support Agile methodologies
  • On-call support
  • Collaborate with squad, Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders

Requirements For Sr Data Engineer - Hulu Audience Integration

  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Experience with building batch/real-time data pipelines in Spark
  • Experience and/or certification with Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, hdfs, etc)
  • Experience in Java and/or alternative JVM application development environments (Scala)
  • Excellent understanding of software development fundamentals
  • Experience with standard CI/CD procedures & tools
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
