Job Description

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the creative force that imagines, designs and brings to life all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions and cruise ships worldwide. As a Ride Development Engineering Intern, you'll join our studio which designs and develops rides that provide memorable moving experiences to Disney's Guests worldwide.

This internship runs from January 2026 to June 2026 in Orlando, FL. You'll work within the Ride Engineering team that builds the most advanced systems creating magical and immersive attractions globally. The studio comprises Control (Software and Hardware) and Mechanical departments working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

You'll have the opportunity to work on various project phases from concept to detailed design to testing. While responsible for engineering activities, the focus is on learning from experts across engineering disciplines. You'll contribute to ride system development, mechanical analysis, mechanism design, and CAD modeling.

Key technical areas include:

  • Mechanical system design and control system elements
  • Engineering principles application
  • Technical documentation and CAD
  • Mechanical components and manufacturing
  • SolidWorks expertise
  • Calculations in statics, dynamics, kinematics, and materials

Preferred skills include systems modeling, vibrations, composites knowledge, hands-on experience building/testing mechanisms, and Matlab proficiency.

The role offers competitive compensation at $30/hour for undergraduates and $35/hour for graduate students, with select benefits available. You'll be part of Walt Disney Imagineering's legacy of blending creativity with cutting-edge technology to create world-class entertainment experiences.

  • Be part of an engineering team involved in ride system development, prototyping, simulation, or testing
  • Provide mechanical analysis of components and systems
  • Assist in the design of mechanisms and machines
  • Perform CAD model manipulation and creation
  • Provide ride system interface information to other groups within Imagineering

Requirements For WDI Ride Development Engineering Intern, Orlando, Spring 2026

Python
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Ability to understand and implement basic mechanical system design
  • Ability to prepare technical documents and CAD drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of statics, dynamics, kinematics, and strength of materials
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
