Senior Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer - Search, Personalization, Ads

Faire is seeking a Senior Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to join their Discovery Data team, focusing on Search, Personalization, or Ads. This role is crucial in developing solutions to help local retailers compete with e-commerce giants.

Role Details:

• You'll work on cutting-edge search, personalization, or ads problems using a variety of data about retailers, brands, and products.
• You'll be part of a lean, talented team with high opportunity for direct product impact and ownership.
• The role involves using machine learning to help local retailers and independent brands succeed.
• You'll be a foundational team member of a fast-growing company, solving challenging problems related to a two-sided marketplace.

Responsibilities:

• Optimize search through query understanding, retrieval, ranking, and whole-page optimization.
• Develop personalized recommendation systems using embeddings, near-real-time signals, and diversification techniques.
• Build Ads Delivery and Advertiser Optimization systems, including ads targeting, retrieval, prediction/ranking, bidding, and auction design.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of industry experience using machine learning to solve real-world problems.
• Strong understanding of search, personalization, or ads for product development.
• Excellent programming skills and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
• Experience with deep learning.
• Ability to contribute to team strategy and lead model development independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related STEM fields.
• Ability to quickly implement state-of-the-art algorithms from academic papers.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary range: $141,500 - $194,500 per year (for Canada).
• Equity and additional benefits offered.
