Job Description

Genentech, a pioneering biotechnology company within the Roche group, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their AI for Drug Discovery (AIDD) group, specifically within the Prescient Design team. This role sits within their new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE), a strategic initiative aimed at transforming drug discovery through AI and computational sciences.

The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge machine learning applications in drug discovery, focusing on developing and implementing foundation models and LLM-based systems. You'll be responsible for building large-scale, distributed machine learning algorithms that will revolutionize the drug discovery process, working as part of their innovative Lab-in-the-Loop approach.

The role combines technical expertise in machine learning with practical applications in biomedical science. You'll work with heterogeneous data sources and collaborate with top academic institutions while having access to Genentech and Roche's extensive resources. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $141,100 to $262,100, plus potential annual bonuses.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about applying AI to healthcare innovation, with strong technical skills in Python and deep learning frameworks, particularly in working with LLMs. The role requires both technical excellence and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Working at Genentech means joining a company with a mission to develop transformative medicines, demonstrated by their achievements as the first targeted antibody for cancer and the first medicine for primary progressive multiple sclerosis. The company offers a collaborative environment focused on pushing the boundaries of science and medicine through technological innovation.
