Google Cloud Professional Services is seeking a Cloud Engineer specializing in Application Modernization to help guide customers through their cloud transformation journey. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, focusing on modernizing enterprise applications for the cloud era.
The position requires deep technical knowledge in cloud technologies, application architecture, and software development. You'll work directly with Google Cloud customers to transform their existing applications into modern, cloud-native solutions that improve deployment efficiency and reliability. This involves hands-on coding, architecture design, and implementation of best practices.
As a Cloud Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading application modernization initiatives, including refactoring monolithic applications into microservices, implementing APIs, and developing serverless solutions. The role requires expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence with strong communication skills, as you'll be working closely with customers to understand their needs and guide them through their transformation journey. - Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex software development issues
- Deliver modern software to Google's customers, including creating and executing enterprise application transformation and migration strategies
- Recommend approaches and estimated effort for application migration and modernization programs
- Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code
- Travel up to 30% for in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities as needed
Requirements For Cloud Engineer, Application Modernization, Professional Services, Google Cloud
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 6 years of experience leading enterprise application portfolios and associated technologies
- Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion
- Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages including data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently
