Description For Data Center Electrical Engineer

Google's Data Center Engineering team is at the forefront of designing and maintaining the physical infrastructure that powers Google's vast technical operations. As a Data Center Electrical Engineer, you'll be part of a team that mirrors an R&D department, tackling complex challenges in power management and facility operations. You'll work directly with construction teams and contractors, ensuring high-quality execution while maintaining Google's exacting standards. The position demands expertise in electrical infrastructure, including experience with substations, switchgear, emergency power systems, and their control systems. You'll serve as a subject matter expert, bridging the gap between design, construction, and operations teams.

Responsibilities For Data Center Electrical Engineer

  • Participate in project specific design review process at 30%, 60%, and 95% releases with focus on constructability, Google standards, and value engineering
  • Support construction teams and contractors in execution of work with quality, speed, commissioning, issue mitigation, and adherence to Google standards
  • Support Data Center Operations as the primary internal customer throughout construction and post-occupancy as the system subject matter expert (SME)
  • Develop a detailed understanding of trade contractor project delivery strategies, planning, zoning, work sequences/packaging, etc. to optimize and align to program requirements

Requirements For Data Center Electrical Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments
  • Experience in mission critical facilities and their electrical infrastructure
