Job Description

The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and deploying the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As a Data Center Operations Manager, you'll lead a team responsible for deploying and maintaining Google's advanced Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure. You'll also participate in or lead local project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of individuals, setting and communicating priorities that support organizational goals
  • Partnering with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities
  • Maintaining, monitoring, and executing security and operational procedures
  • Repairing, fixing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, and infrastructure
  • Supporting and contributing to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs

This role offers opportunities for growth within Hardware Operations or potential moves towards software development, engineering, networking operations, or project management groups. The ideal candidate will have experience in data center environments, strategic initiative execution, and leading Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.

Google's Technical Infrastructure team is crucial in building and maintaining the architecture that supports Google's product portfolio. They ensure networks are up and running, providing users with the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities For Data Center Operations Manager

  • Lead a team of individuals, set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals
  • Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set/implement short and long-term strategies
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives

Requirements For Data Center Operations Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware
  • 2 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and delivery
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing rotations/shifts
