Description For Data Center Structural Mechanical Engineer

Google is seeking a Data Center Structural Mechanical Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team. This role involves designing and optimizing data center infrastructure, focusing on mechanical and structural engineering aspects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mechanical design, 3D CAD tools, tolerance analysis, and structural analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Creating test plans, performing testing, and validating designs to meet engineering requirements.
  2. Resolving, troubleshooting, and root-causing potential technical issues.
  3. Influencing product development by providing mechanical and structural engineering expertise.
  4. Identifying and scoping innovation projects and addressing technology risks.
  5. Providing technical mentorship and fostering professional growth within the team.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) and at least 3 years of experience in mechanical design, 3D CAD tools, tolerance analysis, and structural analysis. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years of experience, and expertise in designing complex modular building-scale assemblies.

  • 3 years of experience in designing and analyzing with tolerance analysis and tolerance loop methodologies
  • 3 years of experience with structural analysis tool such as RISA 3D or similar
