Job Description

Google Play is seeking a Data Scientist to join their Play Games Data Science and Analytics (DSA) team. This role is crucial in providing insights and operational excellence that enables Play to serve over four billion users worldwide. The position combines investigative skills with commercial understanding to support Play's loyalty-focused products, including Play Points and Play Pass.

The role requires deep expertise in statistical analysis, data mining, and metrics development, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams. You'll be responsible for creating and executing data science roadmaps, solving complex analytical problems, and establishing data governance practices.

As part of the Platforms and Devices team, you'll contribute to Google's computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and applications. The role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $183,000-$271,000 plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in statistical data analysis, modeling, experimentation, and causal inference, with proven ability to translate unstructured business problems into actionable insights. Responsibilities For Data Scientist, Product, Play Data Science and Analytics

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python)
  • Own outcomes for projects by covering problem definition, metrics development, data extraction and manipulation
  • Develop solutions, lead, and manage problems that may be ambiguous and lacking clear precedent
  • Oversee the integration of cross-functional and cross-organizational project/process timelines
  • Directly or indirectly oversee the contributions of others and develop colleagues' capabilities

Requirements For Data Scientist, Product, Play Data Science and Analytics

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems
  • 7 years of experience with statistical data analysis
  • 5 years of experience with data mining, querying, and managing investigative projects
  • 3 years of experience developing and managing metrics or evaluating programs/products
