Engineering Manager, AI Innovation and Research

Google is seeking an Engineering Manager for AI Innovation and Research to lead their AI and Research Accelerator (AIRX) and On-Device Intelligence (ODI) teams. This role is part of the AI Innovation and Research (AIR) organization, which acts as a catalyst for AI innovation in Platforms and Devices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, technical leadership, and people management, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. They will be responsible for recruiting and managing a high-performing team of AI/ML software engineers, providing technical guidance, and driving an engineering culture focused on innovation and delivery of AI solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and developing a team of AI/ML engineers
• Providing deep technical expertise in machine learning and AI development
• Overseeing model development, training, evaluation, and deployment
• Collaborating with the Mountain View-based Engagements team
• Driving innovation and alignment with AIR's goals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience (Master's or PhD preferred)
• 8+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role, with 2+ years in people management
• Experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
• Familiarity with Large Language Models is a plus
