Job Description

Google Cloud is seeking a Principal Architect to join their UK/IE Startups team, focusing on helping customers transform their businesses through cloud technology. This role combines technical leadership with business strategy, requiring someone who can build trusted relationships with high-level stakeholders including CTOs and CIOs.

The position sits within the Customer Engineering organization and involves leading cross-functional teams to help customers design, plan, implement, and govern enterprise cloud strategies. As a Principal Architect, you'll be responsible for directing sales team execution by combining technical expertise with business acumen, particularly in the startup and scaleup ecosystem.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience, with deep knowledge of cloud computing across applications, infrastructure, and platforms. You'll need strong presentation skills for executive-level engagement and experience with structured enterprise architecture practices, including hybrid cloud deployments and migration roadmaps.

Responsibilities For Principal Architect, UK/IE Startups, Google Cloud

  • Build a trusted advisory relationship with accounts and engage with Architects, VP Engineering, CTO and CIO
  • Provide domain expertise around public cloud and enterprise technology
  • Make recommendations on integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure
  • Manage the holistic enterprise architecture relationship with customers
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events is required

Requirements For Principal Architect, UK/IE Startups, Google Cloud

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience as an enterprise architect or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience in cloud market insights and cloud computing across applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, or data
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Experience in, or supporting, the startups industry
