Google's Growth and Notifications Team (GaNT) Analytics is seeking a Research Data Scientist to join their dynamic team. This role sits at the intersection of data science, product analytics, and machine learning, focusing on shaping the future of growth and notifications across Google's major products including YouTube, Photos, and Maps.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with massive datasets and impact billions of users worldwide. You'll be responsible for developing deep insights into what drives growth and engagement across the Google ecosystem, specifically analyzing notification satisfaction, user behavior, and product optimization.

As a Research Data Scientist, you'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business questions into actionable analyses. Responsibilities For Research Data Scientist, Growth and Notifications

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in cross-projects and team settings to identify and clarify business or product questions
  • Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools
  • Define and evaluate experiments and contribute to research projects using statistical analysis and modeling
  • Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale

Requirements For Research Data Scientist, Growth and Notifications

Python
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and experimental design
  • Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • Experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, statistical modeling and creating dashboards
  • Experience in translating analysis results into business recommendations
  • Experience implementing core Machine Learning (ML) concepts
  • Applied knowledge of measurement, statistics and program evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
