Google Public Sector is seeking a Security Engineer to join their team in creating and maintaining the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. This role combines hands-on security engineering with strategic oversight of cybersecurity operations. The position requires active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and focuses on protecting critical assets in a dynamic threat landscape.
The role involves developing and implementing advanced security strategies, conducting security assessments, and leading incident response efforts. You'll work with both network equipment and software systems to proactively identify and address security vulnerabilities. The position offers a competitive base salary range of $166,000-$244,000 plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
As a Security Engineer at Google Public Sector, you'll be responsible for developing security monitoring strategies, overseeing SIEM and IDS/IPS systems, and conducting forensic analysis of security incidents. The role requires a strong background in security engineering with at least 5 years of experience in security assessments and protocols.
The position is based in either Reston, VA or Washington D.C., with up to 25% international travel required. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Google Public Sector
- Develop and implement security monitoring strategies, incident response plans, and security awareness programs
- Oversee the deployment and operation of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
- Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, eradication and recovery
- Conduct forensic analysis of security incidents and develop and deliver post-incident reports and recommendations
- Deliver security solutioning through design, coding, configuration, and deployment
Requirements For Security Engineer, Google Public Sector
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
- 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
- Experience delivering comprehensive security solutioning through design, coding, configuration, and deployment
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time internationally
- Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph
