Google is seeking a Security Engineering Intern to join their team for Summer 2026. As a Security Engineer Intern, you will help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks, and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information.
The role involves working with a broad range of devices, actively monitoring systems for attacks and intrusions, focusing on offensive/testing aspects, and collaborating with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. You'll also build tools, scripts, and other automation to help project teams achieve Google-scale impact.
This internship is designed for students in their penultimate year pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related technical field. The position offers hands-on experience in network security, system hardening, and security automation at one of the world's leading technology companies.
The role requires strong coding skills in languages like Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript, along with experience in network protocols, secure network design, web application security, authentication control, or applied cryptography. You'll work on real-world challenges, develop automation scripts, and collaborate with peers and teams across Google.
The internship offers competitive compensation ($92,000-$122,000 base salary range) and requires full-time commitment for 12 weeks. Interns must be located in the United States during the program and have strong English communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in security engineering while contributing to Google's mission of protecting user data and infrastructure at scale.
