Google Labs is seeking a Senior Developer Relations Engineer to be the bridge between their product Jules and the developer community. This role combines technical expertise with developer advocacy, requiring someone who can create educational content, build sample projects, and shape the developer experience. The position involves working closely with both external developers and internal teams to ensure Jules' success.
As a Senior Developer Relations Engineer, you'll be responsible for creating comprehensive technical content including sample projects, walkthroughs, and video tutorials. You'll host developer meetups and workshops across various platforms, maintaining a strong pulse on the community's needs and feedback. The role requires someone who can effectively communicate technical concepts while also advocating for developer needs internally.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of technical experience, with a background in software engineering or similar technical roles. Experience with AI developer tools and open source contributions is highly valued. You'll need to be comfortable working in ambiguous environments and able to influence without direct authority.
This position offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary range of $156,000-$229,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The role can be based in Mountain View, San Francisco, or Boulder, offering the opportunity to work at one of Google's main tech hubs. Responsibilities For Senior Developer Relations Engineer, Google Labs
- Create sample projects, devlogs, walkthroughs, and videos that show what Jules can do, and how
- Connect directly with developers. Host meetups and workshops on multiple social media platforms. Track the pulse of the community
- Shape the onboarding and document experience. Work with product managers and design to evolve the way developers learn and build with Jules
- Own the public narrative, help define Jules tone of voice and presence in technical channels
- Gather feedback and pain points, synthesize patterns, and advocate for improvements
Requirements For Senior Developer Relations Engineer, Google Labs
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience
- Experience building with AI developer tools
- Experience with educational content creation such as technical videos, written blog posts, or social media posts
- Experience contributing to open source
- Ability to take ownership of solutions and exert influence without authority
- Ability to navigate and grow in early stage or ambiguous environments
