Senior Software Engineer, Android, Wear OS

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Wear/WatchSW team, which powers millions of smartwatch devices from partners including Pixel, Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, Mobvoi, and others. The position is focused on developing core UI experiences for Wear OS, including notifications, app grid, tutorial, charging screen, settings, tiles, and quick settings.

The role is part of the Wear SysUI Big Picture team, which aims to improve the quality of core user experiences through long-term architectural improvements and developer efficiency initiatives. Key areas of focus include AI-powered developer tools, modernization of code bases, scaling release and automation processes, and making components self-service for app teams.

As part of the Platforms and Devices team, you'll be working on Google's computing software platforms across various environments, combining the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. The team researches, designs, and develops new technologies to enhance user interactions with computing devices.

The position offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary range of $166,000-$244,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The role requires strong technical expertise in software development, particularly with system programming languages and Android development. You'll be contributing to significant components within Wear OS SysUI, enhancing notifications stack components, and improving overall system quality.
