Job Description

Google Cloud Storage is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This role focuses on developing next-generation technologies that impact billions of users, particularly in cloud storage and distributed systems. The position requires expertise in C programming, large-scale infrastructure development, and cloud computing environments.

The role is particularly focused on making Lustre file systems work seamlessly with Google Cloud Platform's AI/ML and HPC offerings, including TPUs, GPUs, GKE, and Vertex AI. You'll be working on critical infrastructure that powers Google Cloud's storage solutions, requiring deep technical knowledge in distributed systems and storage technologies.

As a senior engineer, you'll be responsible for both technical leadership and hands-on development, participating in design reviews, code reviews, and system architecture discussions. The role offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems at massive scale, directly impacting Google Cloud's enterprise customers across 200+ countries.

The position offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $166,000-$244,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and have the opportunity to contribute to products that are essential to Google Cloud's infrastructure.

  • Write and test product or system development code
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues
