Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Chrome Accessibility team, focused on making Chrome universally accessible and useful. This role is crucial in developing features that enable users with disabilities to fully utilize Chrome and Chrome OS. The position involves working on essential accessibility features including screen reading, braille support, magnification, and color enhancement.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement accessibility features that make Chrome an inclusive platform for all users. They will work on both the Chrome browser and Chrome OS platform, developing solutions that integrate with third-party assistive technologies and improve the overall web experience for users with disabilities.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer, Chrome Accessibility

  • Work closely with UX designers, Product Managers, and other engineers to define, design, and implement accessibility and immersive reading features
  • Work on Chrome browser features to improve the experience for users with disabilities
  • Build and improve Chrome OS platform features for users with disabilities
  • Improve the web platform with tools and APIs to help developers make their web apps accessible
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards and best practices

Requirements For Software Engineer, Chrome Accessibility

JavaScript
TypeScript
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with data structures/algorithms and software development in one or more programming languages
  • Experience with C++, JavaScript and Web Applications (preferred)
  • Experience with Chrome and Chrome OS (preferred)
  • Experience developing accessible technologies (preferred)
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields (preferred)
