Job Description

Google is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to join their Google Classroom team, focusing on developing and maintaining the Google Classroom Web app. This role is part of Google's Learning and Education team, whose mission is to help everyone in the world learn anything. The position requires expertise in frontend development, particularly with TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frameworks like React.

The ideal candidate will contribute to Google's mission of organizing the world's information and making it universally accessible, specifically in the education sector. You'll be working on technologies that impact billions of users, helping to improve how people connect, explore, and interact with educational content and one another.

As a Frontend Software Engineer at Google Classroom, you'll be responsible for the overall health and technical direction of the web application. You'll collaborate with peers and stakeholders in design reviews, write production code, review others' code, and ensure best practices are followed. The role involves both technical expertise and a commitment to improving educational outcomes.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer, Front End, Google Classroom

  • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality

Requirements For Software Engineer, Front End, Google Classroom

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of development experience with front-end programming languages (specifically Typescript/Javascript) and at least one framework/library (React, Angular, etc)
  • 2 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development
