Job Description

Google Cloud is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their Carbon Footprint team. This role combines software engineering expertise with environmental impact initiatives, focusing on developing and maintaining carbon footprint data pipelines and reporting systems. As part of Google Cloud, which serves customers in over 200 countries, you'll work on critical projects that help organizations understand and reduce their carbon footprint.

The position requires strong data engineering skills and offers the opportunity to work on innovative solutions that impact global sustainability efforts. You'll be responsible for the full development cycle of carbon footprint calculation systems, from design to implementation, while also contributing to the improvement of carbon calculation methodologies.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer III, Carbon Footprint, Google Cloud

  • Participate in the full cycle of development such as design to implementation and testing of carbon footprint data pipelines, reporting, predictions, carbon reduction recommendations
  • Participate in monitoring and debugging efforts as Oncall (during business hours)
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
  • Improve and optimize the carbon calculation methodology

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Carbon Footprint, Google Cloud

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience in data engineering
  • Experience with SQL pipelines and BigQuery (preferred)
  • Experience with data structures or algorithms (preferred)
  • Experience in data science (preferred)
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting or energy data (preferred)
