Staff Data Scientist, Applied Research, Search Platforms

Google is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join their Search Platform Data Science team, focusing on understanding and measuring Search systems, including Experiment, Reliability, Velocity, Latency, Capacity, Content, Logs Quality, and Search Infrastructure. This role offers an opportunity to make an impact on billions of users globally through Google Search.

The position requires expertise in analytics, statistical modeling, and data analysis, with a focus on developing system metrics to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of Search systems. You'll work closely with Engineering and Product teams on system-level optimizations and collaborate with Search verticals, horizontal teams, and SREs.

The ideal candidate will have advanced quantitative skills, strong programming abilities in languages like Python and SQL, and excellent communication skills. You'll be responsible for analyzing complex data sets, building analysis pipelines, and making data-driven recommendations to improve Google's search products.

This role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $197,000-$291,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The position is available in either Mountain View, CA or Cambridge, MA, offering the opportunity to work at one of Google's main tech hubs.
